Body Language: It Says a Lot About You

Modern technology has brought face-to-face conversation to a minimum. In the business world, meeting face-to-face can seal the

deal. When talking to others, try to remember the acronym SOFTEN:

Smile.

Open your posture and don’t cross your arms.

Forward lean to show you are interested.

Touch, on the shoulder or shaking hands, shows compassion.

Eye contact shows you are listening.

Nodding is positive reinforcement.

And remember, do not be checking your phone. Not only is it rude, it shows you have no interest in the discussion.

Hopefully these tips will make you more aware of what you’re communicating to others when you’re not saying anything at all.
